THE DIRECTOR

Ava Sophia Brown was born in Philadelphia and holds a BFA in Screenwriting from Temple University. Throughout the last five years, Ava has been privileged to work on many sets and direct multiple short projects on shoe-string budgets, the most notable being "Love is Wet" (2020), a sex-comedy shot in a day that follows a young couple navigating their modern relationship. "Love is Wet" is the winner of the Audience Award for Diamond Screen Women's Film Fest and finalist at Flickfair.

Ava is a recipient of the Benjamin and Minnie Lazaroff award for screenwriting, has had multiple short stories published in the Philadelphia-based literary magazine Sortes, and her one act play "Shrinking Violet" was selected for the Nayyar Kapur Festival. In May of 2023 she was honored to play the lead of her mentor Zardosht Afshari's "An Endoscopy", a Blackstar Film Festival Lab film.

Ava is deeply committed to telling stories from a female perspective that are off the beaten path, funny, and profound.

CAST

Jasmine Chesbro as ROSE

Jasmine Chesbro is a 21-year-old actress, model, and musician from Philadelphia PA. She has had lead roles in multiple commercials with Comcast and was in a pilot episode of NBC’s “The Tomorrow Show”. She is now a current student at Pace University.

Andrew Schmid as GEORGE

Andrew Schmid, 23, is an actor currently working in Philly but moving to LA very soon! A Temple University graduate, he's participated in a number of independent films and music videos in the Philly area as well as a film for Walt Disney Studios. His first film that he ever worked on was with Ava and he's so glad to have been able to work together once again for Mercy for the Meek!
